“The Law of God”

Sermon Notes:

• Paul asks what is the advantage of being a jew: that they have the words of God
• Possession of God’s word does not make us righteous, it leaves us under the power of sin
• If God’s people cannot stand according to their righteousness, then what hope do the rest of us have?
• Christ is our only hope.

News & Events:

• English Prayer Meeting will take place 11:15—12:30 after service today at Cafetorium. Please join and pray together for each other and for our church.
• Thankful for the loving support of PGC families to over 30 children with Compassion Canada this year, either on an individual basis or by cell groups. PGC would like to collect a list of all sponsors, with details of their sponsored children, for better disseminate information and coordinate on future visits.  Please submit details (https://forms.gle/RMxvaFpdE79RfSw49), and contact admin. • Subsequent to PGC’s first Men’s Conference last July, a Cantonese Men’s Ministry has been set up with aims to organize regular sharing and offer supports to brothers of PGC. The Cantonese men’s 1st monthly gathering will take place on 11/4 (Sat) 7:30-9am at New York Theological Education.  Please contact Pastor Ken for enquiry.  English also have regular men’s cell on the 1^st Saturday every month at Alec’s place.  Feel free to contact Alec if you’re interested.
• October is Appreciation Month for pastoral staff and cell leaders. Encourage brothers and sisters to recognise and appreciate their Pastors, church leaders and cell leaders for their dedication and commitment.
• PGC cordially invite for your presence at the Ordination Service for Pastor Ken Lee on 10/29 (coming Sunday) with program schedule as below:
  

  10:00—10:25	Light Refreshment
  10:30—2:30	Sunday Service & Ordination Ceremony
  *11:30—12:30	*Parents can bring their children (2.5 yrs—Gr 5) to cafeteria for a special hour program (NO Nursery service available)
  13:00	Lunch celebration at Golden Palace Banquet Hall (First Markham Place)

  ** Extended parking is available at 180 Renfrew Dr (opposite to PCA) if needed.

• To better utilise PCA facilities and improve traffic in hallways on Sunday, esp. after launch of staggered time schedule, please note the updated arrangements below:
  - Relocation of Love Snack (10:45-11:15) to Cafetorium
  - Children Sign-in at Small Gym entering from Hallway 200 (next to the Cross)
  - Nursery parents: The diaper changing location at PCA has been moved to the washroom under the Cross, which has a diaper change table inside. Room 104 remains available for nursing moms.

Prayer & Praise Items

• Pray for the recent Israel-Hamas conflict, and the world with many places suffering from political instability and natural disasters. May God reveal His sovereignty, and save the sufferings with His mercy.
• Praise God for the ordination of Pastor Ken on 10/29. May God’s name be glorified with His servant’s faithful serving.
• Pray for 3hr staggered Sunday Services launched since 9/24 with good coordination among all congregations in using limited space at PCA efficiently for heathy growth of various church ministries.
• Pray for PGC’s land to be developed in God’s time & plan.
• Pray for PGC’s supporting missionaries, as well as different missionary fields all over the world. May the gospel be widespread.
