“In Love with God”

SCRIPTURE PASSAGE: Deuteronomy 6:1-15

SUMMARY: The giving of the Law allowed God’s covenant people to be in relationship with him and revealed his nature and character. The root of the Christians’ love for God comes from intimacy with God and from that worship is a natural overflow.

Many Christians today are obedient to God or practice Christian religiosity because of their indebtedness or gratitude to God. That gratitude is initially a great motivator in obeying and serving God, however that motivation eventually lessens.  The key to continued obedience and faithfulness to God lies in focusing on the fulfillment of his future promises (i.e. he will judge and the wicked will be punished).

Love for God stems from a heart of worship. What separates us from God today is not a desire to love him, but the idolatry that fills our lives.
