“MENTORING FROM YOUR HEART”

CHAIRMAN : ALEC CHENG
SPEAKER : PASTOR KEN LEE
SCRIPTURE : 1 Cor. 4:14-17

Notes:

The Lord Jesus calls us to be His disciples, to follow Him, and learn to be like Him. About a month ago I shared with you "To be a disciple from your heart." I introduced the importance of discipleship training and the discipleship process designed by PGC. Today, I will introduce to you another important direction in the PGC discipleship strategy: life influencing life – mentoring from your heart.

1. PGC disciple training strategy

  • Church design process - "A Whole New You" booklet, "Rooted in Eternity" new believer follow-up, "Listening to God" Bible reading and devotion, Sunday school/workshops, worship, cell groups, MasterLife discipleship training, serving in ministries, seminary studies
  • Life influencing life – Mentoring, develop one-to-one spiritual relationship

2. Importance of Mentoring

  • Biblical model
  • Cultivation of personal character
  • Development of spiritual leaders

3. Qualification of Mentees (2 Timothy 2:2)

  • Faithful
  • Able / Available
  • Teachable

4. Qualification of Mentors (1 Corinthians 4:14-17)

  • Heart of a parent (v14-15)
  • Live out God’s Word (v17)
  • Be a role model for others (v16)

Response:

  1. After you became a Christian, is there another Christian (besides your family member) who has helped in your spiritual growth and established a deep spiritual relationship with you? Please share the experience.
  2. Do you want to have a mentor to walk the life journey with you? In what way do you hope he/she can help you grow spiritually?

Greatly appreciated Pastor Herman’s faithful service over the past 4 years, and together with Melody C-mo, they have developed the Caring Ministry, promoted and trained PGC brothers and sisters to serve and care for each other. We are grateful for their dedicated service. Pastor Herman’s last day of service will be June 6, he and Melody C-mo will share how they experience God's guidance in the decision in the May 16 Sunday service. Please pray for their new life and continue the journey in serving the Lord.
