“To be a disciple from your heart”

Notes:

The Lord Jesus calls people to be His disciples, but many people have a misunderstanding that they can choose to be only "believers" but not upgrade to "disciples." In fact, if a person decides to believe in the Lord, he becomes a disciple of the Lord.
Discipleship training is not to train believers to become disciples, but to train disciples to grow toward Christlikeness. Let us follow the Lord wholeheartedly, and be disciples of Jesus from our heart.

1. What is a disciple?

• Believer, Layperson
• Disciple, Christian, Saint
• Apostle

2. Why be a disciple?

• It is the call of the Lord Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20)
• Have an abundant life (John 10:10, Matthew 19:29)
• Reward before the judgment seat of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:9-10)

3. How to be a disciple? (Luke 9:23)

• The Disciples' Cross – 6 Christian disciplines:
  i. Spend time with the Master (John 15:5)
  ii. Live in the Word (John 8:31-32)
  iii. Pray in faith (John 15:7)
  iv. Fellowship with believers (John 13:34-35)
  v. Witness to the world (John 15:8)
  vi. Minister to others (John 15:13)

Response:

1. If you have sincerely determined to believe in Jesus, say to yourself: "I am a disciple of the Lord" and say to the Lord Jesus: "I am willing to take you as my Lord and follow you all my life."
2. Among the six spiritual disciplines of discipleship, which one do you do best? Which one do you need to improve?

• Pray for safe trip for Pastor Iain returning to Toronto. Pray for Vika’s immigration application and hope the couple could be reunited soon in Toronto.
  
• Pray for the approval of Government funding to subsidy for our upcoming Online Summer Camp in July.

• Praise for the weekly gathering of the High School Boys’ and Girls’ fellowship. May God strengthen their bonding between them and spiritual growth in Him.
