“Drawing Close to What Jesus is Doing amongst People Living in Poverty”

CHAIRMAN: Cecil Mar
SPEAKER: Alyssa Esparaz
SCRIPTURES: Matthew 11:2-5 (NLT)

John the Baptist, who was in prison, heard about all the things the Messiah was doing. So he sent his disciples to ask Jesus, “Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting,[a] or should we keep looking for someone else?”

Jesus told them, “Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen— the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.”

Matthew 11:2-5 (NLT)

News & Events:

  • Compassion: appreciate their open house for PGC today,  introducing their mission and vision, as well as an overview of their global operations. Apart from preaching at joint Sunday service this morning, Alyssa will have a Q&A session for us 11:30—12:00 in the Cafetorium (Prayer Meeting will be suspended for this month).  English congregants are also welcome to experience their VR presentation 11:15—12:30 in Rm306.
  • PGC has scheduled to have a Fire Drill on 9/29 12:30-13:30. Congregants are strongly encouraged to participate in order to get familiar with the emergency operation.  To ensure the Drill will be carried out smoothly under a safe environment, no traffic in PCA school campus will be allowed after 12:15 that day until completion of the drill.  As a kind reminder of PCA Fire Exit Notice:

(a) use of any closest Fire exits on emergency as a rule of thumb

(b) There will be 2 EAPs (Evacuation Assembly Point).  One at the Open Area near Playground at the back of school.  The other one in the front by the roadside

(c) Upon Evacuation, NO parents should go to children area to find their children to avoid panic, delay or loss of children

(d) Please follow Emergency Team’s instructions to leave the school building and offer assistance to the needy whenever possible.

Please pay attention to more details announced in the these few weeks.

  • It is with heavy heart to announce that our brother Cecil Mar's mother has passed away peacefully last Thursday to be with the Lord. Please pray for Cecil and his family.  May God comfort them and give them peace.  Details of the funeral service will follow in due course.
  • Praise Lord Jesus that we will have 9 teenagers and their parents to participate in Launch into teens retreat on 9/27-29, led by Pastor Connie and Pastor Andy. May the Lord greatly bless the two generations to have a fruitful and joyful learning and discussion about growing up in God's holiness as a teenager.
  • PGC Sports Night has resumed from 9/11 every Wednesday. Location is now at PCA with badminton/pickleball 6:30-8:30pm at Big Gym and basketball 8:00-10:00pm at Small Gym.  Welcome to invite relatives and friends to come play together.  Please contact Hingstone Calvin or Pastor Iain for further enquiries.
  • “Nothing More. Nothing Less. Nothing Else.” - IDMC 2024 Conference will be held online on 10/18-19 (Fri-Sat) with Rev. Edmund Chan speaking in English (dubbed in Cantonese & Mandarin). Online fee is $60/per with $10 discount available for church group registration of 10+ people. To encourage participation of brothers and sisters, PGC will subsidize half of the fee, i.e. applicants pay only $25 to participate. Please contact Mabel for registration (admin@pgcmail.org). • Pray for God’s sovereignty and mercy over the world now in political instability.

Offering:

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

- Malachi 3:10 (NIV)
